Format: Face-to-face | Venue: L1-S1, Academia
Category: Faculty Development & Debriefing | Workshop Level: Not Applicable

Speakers: Ms Kirsty Freeman, Dr Chong Shin Yuet, Dr Sonali Chonkar, Dr Gayathri Nadarajan

As healthcare simulation educators, we often encourage our learners to view mistakes as puzzles to be solved, dedicating time in the debrief to plan for how we can improve future practice. This interactive panel session will discuss the panellist's journey as healthcare simulation educators from novice to master, revealing mistakes made along their journey to mastery, and sharing what they wish they had known earlier. Participants are encouraged to pose questions and to share their mistakes, as sharing of mistakes is just as important as sharing of successes. Don't waste a good mistake, learn from it.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recognise that the journey from novice to expert healthcare simulation educator, technician, manager or researcher, requires deliberate practice and plenty of mistakes
  2. Discuss the common mistakes people make and how we can learn from them
  3. Integrate the experiences shared by the panel and other participants into their own practice
