Hematopoietic Aging Symposium
Clonal Haematopoiesis in Health and Disease

Date: 22 Sep 2023, Friday | Time: 1025 - 1155 | Track Type: Symposium | Venue: L2-S3&S4, Academia

The accelerated progress in the aging population has become a serious problem worldwide. Clonal haematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) is a condition where somatic mutations are detected in peripheral blood of healthy individuals and is correlated with an increasing age. Clonal haematopoiesis arises when hematopoietic stem cells acquire the critical mutations and is associated with an increased risk of haematopoietic neoplasm and other diseases. Therefore, the discovery of CHIP as a pre-malignant and pre-symptomatic condition offers an avenue to improve early detection and prevention of blood cancer and other non-blood related diseases. Understanding the basic knowledge and the latest findings of hematopoietic aging will help us advance our research for patient benefit.
