Microbiome SymposiumHarnessing the Microbiota to Fortify Health and Treat Disease
Date: 23 Sep 2023, Saturday | Time: 1330 - 1500 | Track Type: Symposium | Venue: L1-S1, Academia
The microbiota is critical for health and when disrupted, causes disease. Furthermore, microbiota-dependent functions are readily modified with diet or probiotics. Microbiota engineering therefore represents a cost-effective approach to impact population health in Singapore. Here, we discuss recent advances in a) techniques to understand how the microbiota performs its functions, and b) efforts to harness the power of microbes to treat diseases such as cardiometabolic disease, infections and inflammatory conditions. We bring together four microbiome researchers from NTU-LKC, A*STAR and Duke University to share their insights from their research and from the field at large.
