Innovation Grant Development World Café

In the Innovation Grant Development World Café, SDC2023 delegates are invited to register for 20-minute individual consultation(s) with Expert Advisor(s) from the SingHealth/Duke-NUS departments with expertise in innovation-related domains:

1. Ms Fiona Loke, Assistant Director, Medical Technology Office (MTO), SingHealth. MTO brings home-grown, clinician-driven medical device development projects to actual clinical use through formulation and implementation of plans for engineering development, quality management system and risk management, testing, and a commercially viable strategy for translation with industry partners.

2. Prof Nicholas Graves, Co-Lead, Impact Assessment Unit (IAU), Academic Medicine Innovation Institute (AMII). IAU generates and shares evidence on the value of innovation projects to our healthcare system. Prof Graves’ specialist areas of knowledge are health economics, health services research, decision making and cost-effectiveness.

3. Dr Hong Wei Wei, Director, Office for Service Transformation (OST) & Rane Tan, Assistant Director, Office for Innovation (SHOFI). OST’s mission is to accelerate healthcare transformation through strategic projects and collaborating with departments across SingHealth to catalyse innovation and transformation through project support and partnerships. SHOFI manages the various innovation grants and supports/facilitates the priority areas and initiatives of the Academic Medicine Innovation Institute (AMII) to promote innovation culture and support innovators in their innovation journey.

4. Dr Lye Whye Kei, Director, SingHealth Intellectual Property Office (SHIP). SHIP is responsible for managing, protecting and commercialising inventions from all the institutions under SingHealth.

5. Prof Roger Vaughan, Director, Centre for Clinician Scientist Development (CCSD), Duke-NUS. CCSD nurtures passionate and talented clinician-researchers at the developmental stage of their research career, through personalised career guidance and structured training geared towards improving research and leadership skills.

6. Assoc Prof Derrick Chan, Programme Director & Kelly Cheang, Assistant Manager, Clinician Innovator Development Programme (CINDP), Appointments and Development Department (ADD), Duke-NUS. CINDP is designed to develop clinician innovators and enable them to develop novel solutions by making innovative changes to the health care system through devices, in-vitro systems and approaches, with an emphasis on “inside-out” solutions.

7. Dr Zou Changji, Senior Technology Development Manager, Centre for Technology and Development (CTeD), Duke-NUS. CTeD oversees and manages selected intellectual property generated by researchers and staff at Duke-NUS and works to ensure optimal commercial outcomes for all Duke-NUS inventions.

8. Dr James Leong, Head, Health Products & Regulatory Science, Centre of Regulatory Excellence (CoRE), Duke-NUS. CoRE supports public and private bodies in their development of strong regulatory capabilities, and encourages innovation through thought leadership and best practices to create an environment in which new healthcare products can be developed, commercialised and delivered to populations across Asia with greater efficacy and safety.
