Population Health Plenary
Why ‘Care’ is the New ‘Cure’: Addressing Population Health and Care Needs from a Caring Life Course Perspective

Date: 22 Sep 2023, Friday | Time: 1610 - 1655| Track Type: Plenary Lecture | Venue: The NAK Auditorium, Academia

Speaker: Prof Alison Kitson

We are facing many global challenges, from managing pandemics to responding to extreme weather events and natural disasters. We are also facing a number of challenges in our health and care systems. We know that we have to think differently about finding solutions to such challenges as global nursing workforce shortages, the increasing need for health and care and the ongoing cost of health care delivery.

This presentation shares groundbreaking work undertaken by researchers at the Caring Futures Institute at Flinders University exploring how caring interventions and increasing self-care capacity and capability could lead to profound changes in the way we organise and deliver nursing care in our acute, sub-acute, community and aged care settings.
