Assoc Prof Chong is a Senior Consultant Developmental Paediatrician. She heads the Child Development Unit (CDU) at National University Hospital, one of two national centres under the Ministry of Health’s National Child Development Programme. She has been involved in the national development of policies in child health, early intervention, and early childhood education with various ministry partners including MOH, MOE, ECDA and MSF. She believes strongly in co-creating solutions with ministries and community agencies to advance child health and child development. She is currently leading a community programme for low-income children which demonstrates health-social-education partnerships, funded by Ministry of Health (MOH) under the Child and Maternal Wellbeing and Health Taskforce strategy action plan. Also, under the Health Development Service Programme (HSDP), MOH and Assoc Prof Chong and her team were awarded a grant to evaluate the adoption and implementation of telehealth services in autism intervention. For her contributions to various projects with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), she was also awarded the Friends of MSF Award in 2021.
