Asst Prof Raymond Najjar

Asst Prof Raymond Najjar is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), and Duke-NUS Medical School. He also holds the position of Research Scientist at the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) and is the co-lead of the Community Eye Care Programme at the Centre for Innovation & Precision Eye Health. With more than 11 years of experience, Asst Prof Najjar has significantly contributed to research, education, and technological advancements in the fields of visual neuroscience and ophthalmology. His primary focus revolves around the non-visual impact of light on human physiology and behaviour, as well as the technical applications related to this matter. With his team at NUS and SERI, Asst Prof Najjar is currently investigating the mechanisms and purposes for light-therapy in myopia, and developing novel screening and diagnostic strategies for ocular diseases through the integration of affordable technology with artificial intelligence, improving accessibility and efficiency in healthcare practices. Asst Prof Najjar’s work has been published in renowned journals like The New England Journal of Medicine, The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Ophthalmology, and Neurology. He also assumed several teaching responsibilities in Singapore, the United States, France, and Lebanon.
