Welcome

Dear colleagues and friends,

Welcome to the 7th SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress, taking place on the 22nd and 23rd September 2023 at Academia, Singapore! The biennial Congress is a signature academic event of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Centre that showcases the latest scientific advances and brings together thought leaders and healthcare professionals to advance Medicine and improve patient outcomes.

Singapore is scaling up on a nationwide effort to enhance population health towards preventive health and building a sustainable healthcare ecosystem. Through research and education, Academic Medicine plays a key role in translating discoveries and innovations with good clinical outcomes into population health and societal impact.

In line with this significant focus on population health, we are excited to present the 2023 Congress with the theme “Advancing Frontiers in Population Health Through Academic Medicine”. The Congress will emphasise the important role that healthcare professionals play in contributing towards population health – whether it is in primary, secondary, tertiary prevention or value-based care. Learning about new discoveries and how they can translate to patient care and population health impact is critical to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in the implementation process.

The two-day programme will offer ample opportunities for fruitful learning and interactions with like-minded academics, researchers, clinicians and policymakers. Delegates may look forward to a strong line-up of international and local speakers who will discuss a wide range of scientific topics in healthcare education and research, ranging from basic science, translational science to health services research. Among them is this year’s keynote speaker, Prof Lesley Curtis, Professor and Chair of the Department of Population Health Sciences in the Duke School of Medicine. She is also an expert in the use of Medicare claims data for health services and clinical outcomes research, as well as a leader in US national data quality efforts. We look forward to hearing Prof Curtis’s valuable expertise and experience in linking science to service delivery and real-world outcomes.

We cordially invite you to be a part of this exciting Congress by contributing to the programme and/or sharing your research work for greater reach and impact. You may submit your proposal here by 13 March, and abstracts here by 12 April! In addition to the new category on population health, abstract submission will now allow for the inclusion of an image, table or graph that can better showcase the project’s impact.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we look forward to welcoming you at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Scientific Congress 2023 in Singapore!
