Clinicians will be recommended for academic appointments in recognition of their contributions to improve patient care through teaching, research and care innovation. Depending on the faculty members’ time commitment to the School and the role they play, the recommended appointment under the relevant scheme (and subsequent reappointments and promotions) will be considered.
The following section aims to serve as a guide for the faculty appointment process (new appointment, re-appointment and promotion).
The entire appointment process is estimated to be between 6 to 12 months depending on the academic appointment recommended and upon receipt of full documents by the School.
Nominees may be requested to submit education portfolio or additional documents, as support for the recommended academic title. The nominee should provide the required documents promptly to avoid any delay in the appointment/re-appointment/promotion review process.
Academic appointments will only be applicable to Associate Consultants and above. Senior Residents / Registrars who are active in teaching can be considered for appointment as “Associate in Education”.
