KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital is a major teaching hospital for all three medical schools in Singapore, namely, the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSoM), Duke-NUS Medical School (Duke-NUS) and Nanyang Technological University Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine). The Paediatrics ACP is the principal paediatric education facility for YLLSoM, Duke-NUS and LKCMedicine in nurturing and inspiring undergraduates to become the doctors of tomorrow. In 2018, the SingHealth Paediatrics Residency Programme was the first choice of all residency programmes for house officers and medical officers, with 100% of residents successfully exiting the residency training and achieving high pass rates for the Master of Medicine (Paediatric Medicine) clinical examination.

Objectives

Education and learning remain the cornerstone of the Paediatrics ACP. Good clinical care and holistic education are essential for every healthcare professional involved in the care of our patients. The Paediatrics ACP will continue to focus on the generativity aspect of education, and promote structured teaching and learning in a vertical, stepwise manner, and also horizontally and inter-professionally.

Within the Paediatrics ACP, it is crucial to enhance faculty development programmes continually. Through the agenda, the faculty can learn and discover viable ways to improve patient care and effectively manage a career in the ever-changing landscape of the healthcare industry. The Paediatrics ACP will uphold the values of Compassion, Integrity and Compassion above and beyond the science of medicine.

As Albert Einstein had said, “Not everything that can be counted counts and not everything that counts can be counted.”
