Pathology Residency Programme

The practice of Anatomic Pathology is based on the understanding of basic pathological processes, pathophysiology, as well as molecular and cell biology. SingHealth Residency Pathology Programme offers an unrivalled and stimulating learning environment to help residents achieve their career objectives.

The three-year Residency programme in Anatomic Pathology is a dynamic medical discipline that comprises general and specialized surgical pathology, cytopathology as well as autopsy pathology.

Pursue specialist certification in clinical microbiology through Singapore's comprehensive five-year residency programme, aligned with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) system. This structured training pathway combines workplace-based assessments, research projects, and examinations to develop expertise in diagnostic microbiology, leading to Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA).

Programme Structure: The programme offers systematic progression through core-general rotations (bacteriology, mycology, virology), core-subdiscipline training (mycobacteriology, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology), and elective opportunities across Singapore's major healthcare institutions including SGH, TTSH, NUH, CGH, KTPH, NTFGH, and KKH.

The Chemical Pathology Training Programme is a five-year programme designed to train chemical pathologists to oversee and govern a clinical biochemistry laboratory and contribute to clinical investigation and management of patients. The programme enables trainees to acquire knowledge in biochemistry, physiology and general pathology, biochemical basis of disease, analytical techniques, and laboratory administration and management. The programme includes close interaction and communication with the faculty chemical pathologists and allied health professionals.
