This practical and interactive workshop is for healthcare educators and professionals who aspire to embed justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in global health and medical education activities inside the classroom and beyond. Participants will learn about the emerging international discourse around “decolonizing global health,” why it is important, and how such thinking can be applied to the teaching of global health and medical sciences.

Learning Outcome(s):

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss what ‘decolonizing’ global health and medical education means, why it is important, and how it can be done
  • Identify practical strategies on how to embed justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in global health and medical education activities inside the classroom and beyond

Target Audience:

Healthcare educators, including those who teach clinical specialties or public/population/global health courses. Also open to healthcare professionals/clinicians who are interested in engaging or are already engaged in public/population/global health practice and advocacy, and those who are interested in issues related to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI).
