Health professions (HP) educators have the remit to design and implement education activities but some may find it challenging to evaluate the effectiveness of these activities in a scholarly manner. This in turn may curtail their scholarly productivity, hampering their ability to meet the faculty scholarly activity requirement. Thus, this workshop aims to introduce HP educators to the Glassick framework of education scholarship criteria to better understand how they should develop their education research capabilities in a systematic manner. This approach hopefully will pave the way for HP educators to acquire relevant skills to engage in scholarly projects and turn their education activities into publication successes.

Learning Outcome(s):
  • Understand the principles of evaluating the impact of education activities in a scholarly manner.
  •  Explore the Glassick scholarship framework to understand how to develop their research capabilities in a systematic way.
  • Critically assess the type of education research skills they should acquire to become successful in scholarly publication.
Target Audience:

Healthcare professionals and health professions educators interested in faculty development issues.
