Never-ending Story of “Embryonic Organiser”

Abstract
100 years ago Spemann and Mangold demonstrated that the “embryonic organiser” not only contributes into the posterior mesodermal structures of the vertebrate embryo. Importantly, it induces the neural tissue. Following this discovery, many more organisers of other organs were discovered. During the molecular era of developmental biology the nature of signaling interactions between the mesoderm and ectoderm started to become deciphered, including the signaling from dorsal mesodermal derivatives and feedback of ectodermal tissues. This talk will present the results of analysis of non canonical derivatives of “embryonic organisers”, which are largely ignored by the textbooks.

Biography
Dr. Vladimir Korzh was born in China, grew in Ukraine, studied in Kyiv for B.Sc., for PhD in Moscow. He worked as a postdoc in Norway and Sweden, as a PI in the IMA and IMCB in Singapore (1995-2016). Currently, he is a Senior Researcher in the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, Poland.
