Title:  Precision Medicine and Glaucoma (Understanding the Genetic Architecture of Glaucoma)

Abstract:
Genome-wide association scans have been very successful in identifying a large number of gene loci that show association with glaucoma, but the exact effector gene(s) responsible often remained elusive. Lately, my colleagues and I have performed large-scale whole exome sequencing for exfoliation glaucoma, primary angle-closure glaucoma, as well as primary open-angle glaucoma (the last as part of the TARGET Large Collaborative Grant) to be more definitive in the isolation of disease genes.
