About the Event
The SingHealth Duke-NUS Maternal and Child Health Research Institute (MCHRI) serves as a centre of excellence to focus and lead healthcare research and implementation initiatives in maternal and child health. Taking a life-course approach, MCHRI aims to tackle population health challenges, implement evidence-based initiatives and cultivate a continually-learning ecosystem for researchers focusing on maternal and child health challenges.
Join our speakers Dr Loy See Ling, Dr Saumya Jamuar and Dr Yeo Joo Guan as they share insights across various themes in maternal and child health research including metabolic health, genetics and immunology.
About the Speakers
Dr Loy See Ling is a Junior Principal Investigator, from the Department of Reproductive Medicine in KKH. She attained her PhD in Nutrition in year 2014, specialising in life course epidemiology and chrononutrition. She is currently actively involved in planning and initiating a new model-of-care to improve mother-child health in a life-course manner.
Dr Saumya Jamuar is a Clinical Geneticist at KKH and a Clinical Director at SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Precision Medicine. He also serves as the Lead PI of the Singapore Childhood Undiagnosed Disease. He is actively involved in research and has published in top tier journals including The New England Journal of Medicine and Nature Genetics. He has received multiple awards for his research, including the SingHealth Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2015, National Medical Research Council Clinician Scientist Award in 2021 and SingHealth Duke-NUS Research Team Award in 2023.
Dr Yeo Joo Guan is a Clinician Scientist at Translational Immunology Institute, SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, and Senior Consultant in the Division of Medicine, KKH. With the support from the MOH Healthcare Scholarship, he obtained his Ph.D. in 2014 from the Department of Microbiology, Immunology programme, NUS. He is currently holding two active NMRC grants, CSA-INV and CS-IRG, to study the mechanism underpinning the development of autoimmunity and the impact of an autoimmune milieu on the responses to mRNA vaccines.
About the Facilitator
Prof Jerry Chan is a Clinician Scientist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Department of Reproductive Medicine at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), with research interests in fetal immunology and molecular therapy, reproductive medicine and life-course epidemiology. His research interests include several fields of cutting-edge science underpinning advances in reproductive biology. He has published over 300 papers and was also awarded the Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher in 2020.
