Engineering & Rapid Prototyping

We provide SingHealth project teams with access to engineering expertise, prototyping resources and a supportive environment to explore clinical needs and develop practical solutions.

Through our Makerspace and in-house Engineering team, AMC innovators can refine concepts, create prototypes and test ideas using shared equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters and mechanical and electrical tools — without needing to procure specialised equipment independently.

By combining hands-on engineering support with shared resources, we help lower barriers to experimentation, facilitate rapid iteration and advance promising ideas towards further development.

Value Proposition to AMC Innovators:

Our team is trained to guide and support AMC Innovators in joint grant applications. Some support includes identifying suitable grants matching the development of the projects, developing grant proposals and submitting grant paperwork.

A.L.I.C.E is also able to aid in project management and resource match collaboration projects such as linking to critical technology owners, professional service or regulatory consultation agencies, etc.

Clinicians who have explored their initial ideas with A.L.I.C.E may also be linked up to our extensive commercial partners network to pursue deeper development of their projects.

Engineering support is available in-house in A.L.I.C.E as well. Our engineers are able to assist in various ways such as conceptualising novel healthcare solutions, creating digital 3D models to facilitate design review and iterations, or prototyping.

AMC Innovators can also tap into resources in our centre's Makerspace to create mock-up prototypes or generate needed pre-data for grant application. Upon accquiring required certification, AMC Innovators are also welcome to loan our centre's equipment to advance the technical readiness of the technology under development. We are equipped with specialised medical device testers capable of verifying device performance against industry gold standards.
