These little gardens and corners promote wellbeing, as people generally respond positively to nature.
"I love to visit the Bicentennial Garden in the morning - sipping coffee, enjoying fresh air and watching some of the flowers bloom right in front of me," says Ms Lee Ewe Choon, Environmental Services.
Our Bicentennial Garden is bursting with
life…sweet potatoes, papaya tree and the occasional chicken coming to graze.
It is for such psychological and emotional benefits that green spaces have been built into hospitals and other healthcare facilities. They provide relief and soothing outcomes not just to patients but to our staff, as well.
"It feels nice and soothing when I walk in the Bicentennial Garden. Seeing birds, bees and even otters coming to the garden, it's like bringing a piece of nature into the hospital," says Ms Ho Yi Pei, SGH Projects.
A family of otters visited at the break of dawn.
When it gets too much for you, seek out these little pockets of healing spaces on Campus where you can go to get away from the pressures of work, or to catch up with your friends…
