Dr Gerald Sng Gui Ren
Associate Consultant
Endocrinology
Singapore General Hospital
Dr Gerald Sng is an Associate Consultant with the Department of Endocrinology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH), and is also qualified as a Master of Public Health. His current main clinical interest is in population metabolic health and disease, particularly in young adults. As a Data Science Fellow in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, SGH, he is also a keen proponent of the benefits of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence in healthcare delivery and manpower development.
He has been passionate about exploring determinants of medical student and junior doctor empathy, burnout, and wellbeing – having first published on the topic in 2016 and spoken at medical education conferences and symposia about these issues since. He was a member of the Ministry of Health Junior Doctors’ Wellbeing Committee and was involved in discussions on the planning and regulation of junior doctor working hours and continuous shift restrictions.
