Mr Nicholas Sim
Workgroup Co-Lead, Programme Lead and Faculty,
SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network (SPAN),
SingHealth, Singapore
Nicholas Sim, a retired Human Resource Professional, embodies dedication to service and resilience. As a member of the SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network (SPAN), he channels his expertise and personal experience into meaningful contributions. Serving as Workgroup Co-Lead and Faculty Member, Nicholas plays a pivotal role in SPAN's initiatives, notably facilitating the Patient Advocate Communication Training (SPAN-PACTTM) and Creating the Best-Patient-Experience (SPAN-BPeXTM) courses.
Nicholas' journey as a caregiver for his late wife, enduring Young Onset Dementia from Alzheimer’s Disease for nine years, forged his commitment to positivity and altruism. Despite challenges, he immersed himself in volunteer work with organizations like the National Neuroscience Institute and SPAN, while also offering pro bono Human Resource training and consultancy.
In recognition of his unwavering spirit, Nicholas received the SingHealth Inspirational Patient & Caregiver award in 2020. His humility shines through as he attributes their resilience to the compassionate care provided by healthcare professionals.
Today, Nicholas remains a beacon of gratitude and generosity, continuing to enrich communities through his selfless contributions. His journey exemplifies the transformative power of empathy and the profound impact of giving back.
