Date: 30 October, WednesdayTime: 10:30 - 12:00 | Venue: Academia Room L1-S3, SGH

Speakers: Assoc Prof Harry Wu & Mr Isaiah Lee

Moderator: Mr Daniel Kong

Programme Details:

This session features two projects that present an intersection between theatre and medicine. Professor Harry Wu’s documentary theatre project trains future caregivers. His project will speak to the transformative potential of theatre in the context of medical education.

Isaiah Christopher Lee is a postgraduate researcher and associate artist with inwardBOUND, a Singaporean theatre company. Isaiah will discuss inwardBOUND’s re:ACT Festival, that targeted seniors and secondary school students this year through forum theatre to engage with active ageing and end of life issues.

Through this session, the audience will be exposed to forward thinking uses of theatre as arts based intervention in the space of medicine, health, and broader public life. The session will discuss questions of how theatre, and the arts more broadly, has unique methods and abilities to illicit responses, shape mindsets, and create demonstrable change in its participants. The panel discussion and Q&A will allow for a fruitful discussion of the efficacy and benefits of such arts-based interventions. This session welcomes all, especially those who may be newer to the arts and curious about its potential.
