Tegafur/Uracil (UFT® )

• Nausea and vomiting
• Loss of appetite may occur
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Weakness or loss of strength
• Decrease in the white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets may occur.

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

• Severe abdominal pain and diarrhea
• Rashes
• Sudden onset or gradual worsening of cough and/or breathlessness
• Chest pain or irregular heartbeat
• Fever of 38˚C or higher, severe sores in the mouth and throat
• Unusual bleeding, bruising or black tarry stools
• Yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark tea-coloured urine

• Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you:
• Are taking any other medicines or supplements e.g. warfarin, phenytoin
• Have any other medical conditions e.g. heart problems.
• Effective birth control measures are recommended for both men and women during and for 3 months after stopping treatment with UFT. Inform your doctor if you plan to get or suspect that you are pregnant.
• Do not breastfeed. Inform your doctor if you intend to breastfeed while taking UFT.

​It is a capsule taken by mouth, at least one hour before or one hour after meals with a glass of water. Take the exact number of capsules as instructed by your doctor.

​If you miss a dose of UFT, take it as soon as you remember. However if it is too near to your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your usual dosing time. Do not double the dose.

​If you overdose on this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.

Do not crush, chew or open the capsules.
