Mastering Moulage: Elevating Realism in Medical Simulation

Speakers: Mrs Erica Hinojosa and Mr Nick Bauer

Bruises, burns, rashes, and realistic wounds—learn how to bring your simulation scenarios to life with essential moulage techniques. In this hands-on, 4-hour workshop, participants will practice creating commonly requested effects on both manikins and simulated patients. You'll explore time-saving methods by sculpting and casting silicone wounds, helping reduce long-term costs and prep time. Designed for simulation staff and educators, this workshop blends practical skill-building with creativity to boost scenario realism.

Date: 4 November 2025, Tuesday | Time: 0800 - 1230
Elevate Your Simulation-based Training Programs! Assess the Implementation Quality of Your Programs Using an Implementation Rubric, the IQR-SIM

Speakers: Ms Leizl Joy Nayahangan and Mrs Sigrun Anna Qvindesland

This workshop introduces the Implementation Quality Rubric for Simulation (IQR-SIM), a practical tool designed to evaluate the quality of simulation-based training program implementation. The IQR-SIM includes 18 items spanning three implementation phases and features a three-point rating scale with clear benchmarks. It is intended to help simulation center leaders, curriculum developers, and operations staff plan, assess, and enhance the quality of their simulation program implementation.

Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the implementation process and the critical steps needed to ensure successful simulation program implementation. Through hands-on activities, the participants will learn to use the IQR-SIM and apply it in their own settings to maintain high implementation standards.

Developing Essential Basics for Reflective Insights & Effective Facilitation (DEBRIEF) Course

Speakers: Dr Ben Symon, Dr Chong Shin Yuet, Dr Elaine Tan Ching Ching, Dr Bong Choon Looi, Ms Sabrina Koh Bee Leng and Ms Tan Hwee Yuan

Enhance your debriefing expertise in this intensive one-day course. The DEBRIEF course equips healthcare educators and facilitators with essential skills to conduct meaningful post simulation debriefs. It is designed to enhance debriefing skills through a blend of lectures, role play scenarios, group activities and interactive discussions. Through a blend of theory and practical application, you will develop a deeper understanding of simulation debriefing practices.

Date: 4 November 2025, Tuesday | Time: 0900 - 1600
A Primer for a Performance-based Debriefing Method and Using the Debriefing Assessment in Real Time (DART) Tool

Speaker: Mr Rodrigo B. Galindo

This workshop will introduce participants to an objective, performance-based debriefing method used by the Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education (CAPE) at Stanford Medicine, informed by practices from high-risk fields such as aviation and the military.

Participants will view videos of simulated clinical events, then break into groups to generate and discuss key debriefing questions. They will also watch the actual debriefing for each scenario and use CAPE’s Debriefing Assessment in Real Time (DART) tool to evaluate aspects of the debriefings. Throughout the workshop, participants will learn about common debriefing challenges, such as addressing red flag phrases and enhancing trainee engagement.

Additionally, participants will receive a complimentary offprint of a journal article that includes a debriefing toolkit with questions to improve debriefing quality.
