Mr Kai Kranz

Kai Kranz has a clinical background as a paramedic, an Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education in Adult Education and a Master's degree in Advanced Studies in Quality Leadership.

He worked 20 years in prehospital emergency care and 19 years as an educator in the field of emergency medicine. For the past 15 years, he has been designing, delivering and implementing simulation-based and patient safety initiatives in (air) ambulance services and hospitals in Switzerland.

Together with a team of experts, he setup one of the leading simulation centres in this field in the country of which he is the director. Currently, he works as the Head of Continuous Medical Education, Innovation and Development at the Swiss Institute of Emergency in Nottwil, Switzerland.

Mr. Kranz is interested in finding ways to improve patient care by involving frontline staff and by considering the context of their daily environment. Therefore, he is keen to learn about successful strategies that have been used by other enthusiasts around the world.

As part of the EuSim Network, Kai Kranz is a course director and educator in simulation instructor courses. As an EuSim board member he helps to strengthen and promote simulation-based education in healthcare.
