The Emergency Medicine Academic Clinical Programme (EM ACP) was formed on 1st January 2018 with the vision to enhance the lives of patients through excellent clinical care, teaching, research and innovation. Plagued by the complex, multidisciplinary conditions presented at the various Emergency Departments, there is a growing importance to advance Emergency Medicine for the timely management of these acute conditions within a critical time window.
It took many years for Emergency Medicine to arrive at this stage in our country. The Emergency Department is the frontline of medical care that interacts with every aspect of the healthcare system. An Emergency physician is expected to be an expert on decision-making impeded by the lack of information within limited time. The need for diversity and versatility hence prompts Emergency physicians to delve into both routine and lifesaving procedures such as Life Support and Resuscitation Sciences, Civil Disaster Responses, Toxicology, Trauma and Critical Care, amongst others. A phenomenal field, it requires a special kind of training, backed by research and vigorous application of improvement science to develop a cohesive team that works seamlessly for the timely management and treatment of a myriad of emergencies and urgent cases.

By supporting the programme, your gift can be used to further develop the 4 Emergency Departments as teaching hospitals, optimizing efforts to educate physicians in a manner that equips them to manage multidisciplinary acute conditions in the fast evolving and time-sensitive Emergency Department. Funds can also be channelled towards structuring local & overseas fellowships, scholarships and programmes to nurture the future bedrock of the Emergency Medicine community. With the use of cutting-edge innovations and state-of-the-art infrastructure, the learning experience through the programmes can be further enhanced and enriched.
