Dr. Jeslyn Tengkawan is a pediatric resident at Diponegoro University, Indonesia, with a strong commitment to children well-being, health equity, and determinants of health. She earned her medical degree in Indonesia and completed a Master of Public Health in Child and Adolescent Health at Johns Hopkins University, where she graduated with honors and received the Delta Omega Award. She also holds a Pediatric Leadership Postgraduate Certificate from Harvard Medical School.Dr. Tengkawan’s work spans clinical pediatrics, research, advocacy, and community engagement, with a particular focus on improving health outcomes for children. She is the founder of the Capella Project Foundation, a non-profit initiative supporting child growth, nutrition, and development in marginalized communities. Her research and policy contributions have been recognized through awards including the Pediatrics Research Competition at the 16th Asia Pacific Congress of Pediatrics and the National Health Policy Forum.Caring for children and families navigating serious illness, uncertainty, resource limitations, and complex decision-making has shaped her growing commitment to bioethics, medical humanities, and compassionate, family-centered care. In recognition of her commitment in the region, she received the Mentorship Award from the Southeast Asia Bioethics Network and actively contribute as a peer reviewer for indexed journals.
