David Gan is an artist, educator, and emerging art therapist whose practice bridges contemporary art and clinical care. Working primarily through text-based methods including poetry, narrative, and collaborative authorship, he brings a relational, trauma-informed lens to complex care contexts. His clinical experience spans psychosocial oncology, addiction recovery, and LGBTQ+ communities, where he has facilitated both individual and group art therapy programmes within multidisciplinary teams. This dual grounding in art and healthcare informs his broader contribution to arts-based research and medical humanities discourse.David has presented poetic transcription as a research method at the Society of Behavioural Health Singapore Annual Scientific Meeting (2026) and exhibited at the Singapore Medical Humanities Conference (2025). His artistic work includes To Have and to Hold (Thought Partner Studio, 2025), among other institutional presentations. He holds the inaugural National Arts Council–University of the Arts Singapore (NAC–UAS) Scholarship (2024) and is a former Public Service Commission (PSC) Scholarship (Education) recipient.
