Ivan Lee's practice explores the complex interplay between ritual and human emotion. His current research 'The White Library: Archiving Control' builds on a material library and the obsession with control manifesting as a series of ritualistic inscriptions on a white ground. His research proposes that the technical transition from slip to engobe to glaze is not merely a decorative sequence but a form of “archivalization”—a systematic act of note-taking where thoughts are inscribed onto the material before they become permanent records. Ivan is the co-founder of Byformation Creative Studio and Weekendworker Ceramic Studio. His exhibition credits and awards include Liminality, Singapore Art Week (2024), 15th Shoebox Sculpture Exhibition, National Taiwan University of Arts (2024), and D&AD New Blood, Tutor, Wooden Pencil (2021).
