Prof May Lwin

About

Prof May Lwin is President’s Chair Professor of Communication Studies at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI),  Nanyang Technological University. She also serves as Joint Professor (Honorary) in the NTU LKC School of Medicine and is the Director of Center for Health Behaviour Insights and Interventions in Asia (HABITS) which leads health behaviour and policy impact studies relating to Cancer Screening, AI in Healthcare, Aging, Metabolic Syndromes and Mental Wellbeing in the region. Prof Lwin’s research projects involve the utilisation, design, and assessment of digitally mediated communication and technology to influence health behaviours. Her expert insights have been deployed in various health and disease contexts including COVID-19, dengue, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and cardiovascular health.  She has successfully developed and launched mobile tracking systems, such as the Mo-Buzz social media surveillance for tackling dengue and FluTac, a digital influenza surveillance system for health workers.  Among the major awards she has received are the International Communication Association (ICA) Outstanding Applied Scholar Award, Ogilvy Foundation Award and Fulbright ASEAN Scholar Award.  May is a Fellow of the International Communication Association (ICA).
