International Pathology Day (IPD) is an annual event that celebrates the work of pathology departments all over the world. Since 2014, SingHealth Pathology departments from Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) have participated in this important event. Department of Pathology from Sengkang General Hospital (SKH) and Department of Laboratory Medicine from Changi General Hospital (CGH) joined us in celebrating IPD to bring greater awareness to pathology as a specialty since 2015 and 2019 respectively. On this day, our departments and laboratory sections actively showcase the work they do through a carnival-like event with fun-filled activities and booths.
This year, we are unable to gather as before due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our departments have instead produced some bite-sized videos, “Pathology Nuggets”. Through these videos, we get to witness first-hand what our colleagues do behind-the-scenes in our Pathology laboratories, and also how they have been pulling through the fight against COVID-19.
We certainly hope that through these videos, one will gain an insight into and have a better appreciation for Pathology.
