PROSTATE MRI TEACHING COURSE 2023 – 2nd SGH PROMT

Date:          Saturday, 2 September 2023

Time:         8am – 4.30pm

Venue:       Procedural Skills Lab, Academia Level 2, Singapore General Hospital (SGH), 20 College Road, Singapore 169856

COURSE OVERVIEW

Advances in multiparametric MRI (mp-MRI) have resulted in a major paradigm shift in the care of prostate cancer patients worldwide, and radiologists play an integral role in this. Through this concise course, we aim to provide practising radiologists and urologists with training in the interpretation of mp-MRI and the use of Prostate Imaging–Reporting and Data System version 2.1 (PIRADSv2.1) for standardised communication of imaging findings.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn from a leading multidisciplinary team from SGH which has pioneered the use of mp-MRI prostate and MRI-Ultrasound (MRI-US) fusion-targeted biopsies for effective diagnosis and management of prostate cancer in Singapore and the region. In addition, participants will learn from leading experts on advanced treatment options for prostate cancer, including focal cryoablation and theranostics. A series of didactic lectures on diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer will complement the hands-on training, where participants will get to develop their interpretative skills by reviewing prostate mp-MRI cases with pathological correlation on their own devices, with guidance from the course faculty.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the basics of prostate cancer and Gleason score
  • Optimise mp-MRI prostate imaging protocols to achieve the best diagnostic performance
  • Apply the principles of PI-RADS v2.1 to help in the interpretation of mp-MRI of the prostate
