Overview:
Effective interprofessional collaboration is essential for delivering safe, patient-centred healthcare. This workshop introduces participants to the principles of reflective practice and demonstrates how structured reflection can strengthen communication, teamwork, and shared decision-making across health professions. Through guided activities, participants will explore key reflective models, practise using tools such as debriefing and reflective prompts, and develop an action plan to enhance collaboration within their own clinical or institutional settings. This session equips healthcare professionals and educators with practical strategies to foster safer, more cohesive inter-professional teams.
Learning Outcome(s):
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Explain the concepts of reflective practice and inter-professional collaboration (IPC) and describe their relevance to safe and effective healthcare delivery.
• Identify key reflective models and frameworks suitable for use in inter-professional learning and team-based contexts.
• Analyse how reflective practices can strengthen communication, teamwork, shared decision-making, and overall collaborative behaviour within inter-professional teams.
• Demonstrate the use of structured reflective tools, including guided debriefing, reflective prompts, and narrative reflection, to address real-world team challenges in healthcare.
• Develop a practical reflective action plan to enhance inter-professional collaboration within their respective clinical or institutional settings.
