Welcome

Synonym(s):

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are delighted to welcome you to the SingHealth Duke-NUS Education Conference (SDEC) 2026.

This year’s theme of Learning Reimagined: Education for Tomorrow's World is especially relevant as we stand at the crossroads of rapid technological advancement and evolving educational needs. With the rise of artificial intelligence and other technology-enhanced learning tools, it is imperative that we rethink how we train  future generations. This means blending the strengths of traditional teaching methods, with innovative approaches to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly complex and dynamic world.

As the 7th edition of this biennial conference, SDEC 2026 serves as a vital platform for educators, practitioners, and thought leaders to come together, reflect, and share their experiences. The two-year interval allows participants to implement new strategies and innovations learned from previous conferences, observe their impact, and return with valuable insights – both successes and challenges – that enrich the collective learning of the community.

SDEC offers a dynamic platform not only to gain insights from leading experts, but also to actively contribute by presenting their own scholarly work, research findings, and innovative projects. Whether through attending symposiums, engaging in interactive workshops, or sharing their experiences and research, delegates will leave empowered with actionable insights to implement in their own institutions and communities.

This year, we are excited to collaborate with APIPEC for a joint conference, bringing an international perspective on Interprofessional Education (IPE). Delegates can look forward to a diverse range of IPE-related workshops and symposiums led by prominent educators, offering best practices and cutting-edge research. This collaboration promises fresh ideas and dynamic discussions that will inspire new approaches to healthcare education.

We are confident that participants will leave SDEC 2026 with a renewed vision for education – one that embraces change, leverages technology thoughtfully, and remains grounded in effective teaching principles. The ideas and connections forged here will help shape the future of healthcare education, ensuring that learners are well-prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s world, and sparking meaningful partnerships and collaborative projects that extend beyond the event itself.
