Track Type: Workshop
Speaker(s):
Overview:
This practical, hands-on workshop is designed for busy healthcare professionals who need to implement collaborative practices but have no prior training in Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC). Participants will explore the core principles of "learning with, from, and about each other" to improve the quality of patient care. Through interactive brainstorming and high-fidelity role-playing of hypothetical clinical cases (i.e., polypharmacy, stroke rehabilitation, and palliative care), attendees will be given time to practice team-based decision-making and obtain feedback to refine their collaborative skills..
Learning Outcome(s):
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Identify and navigate common barriers to collaboration, including communication gaps, role confusion, and hierarchy.
2. Apply IPC principles such as mutual respect and open dialogue to foster a supportive team environment.
3. Integrate diverse professional perspectives from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation, and nutrition into unified care plans.
4. Develop a concrete "Action Pledge" to implement specific collaborative behaviors in their real-world clinical practice.
Target Audience:
This workshop is designed for practicing healthcare professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, PTs, OTs, and dietitians) and clinical facilitators who are new to formal IPC. It is ideal for teams looking to improve safety and coordination in acute or community care settings.
