Asst Prof Bong Choon Loi

Dr. Bong Choon Looi is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Paediatric Anaesthesia at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore, Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and Senior Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. She trained in paediatric anaesthesia at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and has since combined her clinical work with academic interests in both paediatric anaesthesia and medical education.
Dr. Bong has been actively involved in healthcare simulation for over a decade, with a focus on how simulation can be used to explore cognitive load, stress responses, and the development of non-technical skills essential for safe clinical practice. She has contributed to studies and publications in simulation-based education, and regularly facilitates workshops and courses for trainees and interprofessional teams. In parallel, her research in EEG-guided anaesthesia and the effects of anaesthesia on neurodevelopment in children has informed her educational practice, where she emphasizes evidence-based, experiential learning approaches. Through her work, she hopes to support both improved patient safety and the professional growth of the next generation of healthcare providers.
