Dr. Higgins, Assistant Professor of Nursing, Hawai’i Pacific University and a dedicated Simulationist for over 10 years, specializes in the integration of clinical simulation into nursing education. With a passion for experiential learning, Dr. Higgins designs and facilitates high-fidelity simulation scenarios that enhance clinical judgment, teamwork, and patient safety. Focusing on bridging theory and practice for academic and professional nursing efforts in the workforce, Dr. Higgins prepares future nurses for real-world challenges through innovative teaching strategies and simulation-based pedagogy. 

In addition to educating nursing students, Dr. Higgins plays a vital role in mentoring and training new nursing instructors in the effective use of simulation-based education. Leading faculty development workshops based on innovative simulation curricula, Dr. Higgins is known to provide engaging hands-on training in scenario development, debriefing techniques- all using a variety of simulation technologies and practices. As a champion for educational excellence, Dr. Higgins is committed to advancing the science of simulation in nursing education and fostering a culture of continuous learning among faculty and students alike.
