Medical Emergency Response in SingHealth Polyclinics: The ‘Code Team’

This session is targeted at healthcare providers in ambulatory primary care. Attendees will learn about the ‘Code Team’ response to medical emergencies in SingHealth Polyclinics, with an emphasis on scenarios requiring immediate measures to stabilise and/or resuscitate a critically ill casualty before ambulance crew arrival, to maximise the casualty’s chance of survival and recovery. A ‘Code Team’ simulation drill will be demonstrated. Common lessons learnt from simulation drills conducted on-site to review the activation process and ‘Code Team’ response will be shared.

• Appreciate the dynamic changes and importance of teamwork and interprofessional communication during medical emergency responses.
• Personal reflection on how the ‘Code Team’ can be applied in one’s own ambulatory primary care practice for peri-arrest and cardiopulmonary arrest scenarios
