RCDP combines the principles of deliberate practice and mastery learning. While traditionally used for technical and algorithm-based training, it is increasingly being applied to the development of social and cognitive abilities. Designing RCDP scenarios can be complex (especially when planning learning gaps and pause points), but it also offers an opportunity to apply structured tools for identifying learning needs and supporting the transfer of skills to clinical practice

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

1. Apply the principles of deliberate practice and mastery learning to the design of RCDP sessions targeting social and cognitive abilities.
2. Select appropriate social and cognitive skills to be addressed through RCDP-based simulation activities.
3. Design RCDP scenarios that include defined learning objectives, structured pause points, feedback loops and performance indicators.
4. Use structured approaches - such as failure mode and effects analysis - to identify learning needs that inform scenario planning.
5. Facilitate a peer-based RCDP session using concise feedback and repetition strategies while maintaining psychological, physical and ergonomic safety.
6. Evaluate opportunities and challenges for transferring acquired abilities from simulation to clinical practice.
