ADN Chitra has also developed various ophthalmic training programs and courses that have changed the lives of many nurses. She had spearheaded the development of the Graduate Certificate in Advanced Specialty Practice (Ophthalmic Nursing) in partnership with Curtin University , Singapore.

She had also been instrumental in developing the Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Ophthalmology) program offered by the College of Clinical Nursing, Singhealth Academy . She developed a basic eye care training course for nursing assistants in nursing homes funded by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC). The course had helped to improve the eye care of elderly residents who lacked access to such services. Over 200 nursing assistants were trained (Annex B). Her contribution to the EYETRAIN project, which provides bespoke training courses for allied ophthalmic personnel in the region, is transforming EYEACP into a regional ophthalmic training hub and will undoubtedly change the lives of countless individuals.
