Dr. Damien Keogh, Ph.D., is the Founder and a Board Member of BluMaiden Biosciences, where he now serves as Chief Operations Officer. After 4.5 years as CEO, he transitioned leadership to a US-based team - including a seasoned CEO and senior Pharma executives - to drive commercial scale in the US and global markets. Dr. Keogh remains central to the company’s strategic direction, operations, and partnerships.

 

Since founding BluMaiden in 2020, Dr. Keogh has led its development into an AI-driven drug discovery company that employs a reverse translation approach - leveraging clinical insights to identify biological mechanisms and enable target and natural product-based drug candidate selection. He has been instrumental in building the company’s platform, recruiting key founders, board members, and a scientific advisory board, as well as assembling the core team.

 

Prior to BluMaiden, Dr. Keogh held roles in venture capital as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence and was involved in the creation of spin-out and venture-backed biotech companies. He is an alumnus of Johnson & Johnson Innovation JLABS and continues to advise start-ups and entrepreneurs, serving on multiple scientific advisory boards.

 

During his academic career, he worked with Pharma, clinician scientists, and researchers to advance metabolite biology, microbial-host interactions, and biofilm dynamics. His early research, sponsored by Bristol Myers Squibb, led to a university spin-out focused on glycoselective bioaffinity tools for drug purification.
