Dr Jack Lo is the Chief Resident at the National Neuroscience Institute. He graduated from University College London Medical School with a MB,BS degree and an intercalated BSc in Neuroscience. He excelled academically and was awarded the Class Prize for finishing at the top of his cohort for his BSc in Neuroscience and was the recipient of various awards like Dean's List and Distinction in Medical Sciences (top 10% overall). He is now an early-career surgeon-scientist whose research focuses on the development and clinical translation of brain-machine or brain-computer interface systems. He is the recipient of the prestigious NMRC Research Training Fellowship award which funded his one-year fellowship at the USC Neurorestoration Center, Los Angeles, where he worked on various aspects of Neurorestoration under the mentorship of neurosurgeon Prof Charles Liu.
He has a strong academic track record with >50 publications in top neurosurgery and neuroscience journals like Nature Reviews, Neuron, The Lancet eClinicalMedicine, Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Neural Engineering. He has received various awards such as NNI ACP Best Junior Researcher 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, Young Researchers Award 2021, SingHealth Publish! award 2022. His team is also the winning team at the International BR41N.IO Hackathon organized by IEEE System, Man and Cybernetics (SMC) in 2022.
He was selected to join the Singapore Chief Residency Programme (SCRP), and the recipient of various awards including the RiSE Outstanding Resident award and Best Resident Researcher award.
