Prof Jerry Chan Kok Yen

Dr. Chan is a Senior NMRC Clinician Scientist, reproductive medicine specialist at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH), and Director of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Maternal and Child Health Research Institute (MCHRI). A graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, he completed specialist training in the UK and Singapore, and earned his PhD in fetal stem cell transplantation at Imperial College London. Returning to Singapore in 2005, he established the Experimental Fetal Medicine Group and has since secured over $100 million in competitive research funding as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator, supported by the NMRC and other major funding agencies.

Dr. Chan has authored more than 300 publications in leading journals including Nature, Cell, Science, and The Lancet. His contributions have been recognised with international and national honours: Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher (2020), NMRC Singapore Translational Researcher Award (2023), and the National Medical Excellence Award’s National Outstanding Clinician Scientist Award (2024).

His research focuses on advancing reproductive and perinatal health through translational science, with key interests in fetal molecular therapy, immune ontogeny, reproductive biology, and life course analyses.
