Dr Lohendran Baskaran (Logen) is a senior consultant cardiologist at the National Heart Centre Singapore, Singapore’s largest tertiary centre treating 40% of Singapore’s population. He holds the positions of i) Director of CT research, National Heart Centre, ii) Director of CVS.AI, Southeast Asia’s first and only cardiac imaging artificial intelligence (AI) research lab, iii) Scientific Lead of CT Research, National Cardiac Impact Programme (IMPACT-2), iv) Committee member, Society for Cardiovascular CT (international), and v) Executive committee member, AI task force, Singhealth cluster. vi) The principal investigator for the GPS-CAD (Global Pretest Probability study of coronary artery disease) study, and now has data of over 60, 000 patients from countries like UK, USA, Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, Pakistan and Uganda.
 
Dr Logen’s research expertise is in coronary artery disease and prevention, risk assessment, cardiac imaging and AI. Dr Logen has obtained over SGD$30M (USD23M) in grant funding. He has produced >40 international peer-reviewed publications with an h-index of 23, 2 textbook chapters and a textbook, “Machine Learning in Cardiovascular Medicine” (Elsevier). He trained at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), New York, as a visiting fellow and subsequently as Assistant Professor, AI research division (2018-2020). Dr Logen has also contributed to the “Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography / North American Society of Cardiovascular Imaging Expert Consensus Document on Coronary CT Imaging of Atherosclerotic Plaque (2021)”. His work has been cited in the 2021 ACC/AHA Guidelines on the Evaluation of Chest Pain. Dr Logen is also the chair of philanthropy, cumulatively raising over SGD$7M (USD5M). As a clinician, he understands that innovative changes are required improve healthcare delivery to maximize the benefit to patients’ lives. Dr Logen hopes to grow and consolidate Singapore as a leading hub for research in this niche on the global front.
