Associate Professor Ryan Man is a clinician-scientist at the Population Health Research Unit and holds a joint professional appointment as a Principal Investigator (II) in the Optometry Service at the Singapore National Eye Centre. He has a keen interest in evaluating whether the use of novel and sophisticated adaptive patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) that tailors the questions administered to respondents to the participants level of visual ability at every step of the testing process using ‘smart’ technology (computerized adaptive testing or CAT) can facilitate clinical decision-making, ultimately leading to better health outcomes for the patient. He has published extensively in the areas of PROMs, public health, epidemiological and behavioral research; and is becoming internationally recognized as an expert in these fields. He regularly reviews for over 10 Ophthalmology, Diabetes and Epidemiological peer-reviewed journals, is a key committee member of the Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Academic Clinical Program (Eye-ACP) and was recently awarded the SingHealth Excellence Award for Outstanding Researcher (2024).
