Ms. Xu Zhi Zhen Susan is an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) and a senior nurse clinician in the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). She obtained her advanced diploma in oncology from Nanyang Polytechnic Singapore in 2003 and a Graduate Certificate in Health (Palliative Care) from Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia, in 2012. She pursued her master's degree in nursing and became an APN in 2015. With 8 years of experience as a specialist oncology nurse, she shifted her focus to serving palliative care patients 17 years ago and continues to do so today. Ms. Xu has shared her expertise in both tertiary and community settings within the field of Palliative Medicine. Currently, she advocates for and provides early palliative care to patients with gastrointestinal, lung, breast, and gynecological cancers at her institution. Additionally, she has been actively involved in education across various institutions. Ms. Xu was honored with the National Nurses’ Merit Award and the National Day Commendation Medal in 2016 and 2021, respectively.
