Dr. Ibrahim is a Senior Consultant Neonatologist at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, bringing with him a wealth of expertise and experience in neonatal care and research. Originally from Kerala, India, Dr. Ibrahim pursued his specialist training in Paediatrics and Neonatology in the UK and Canada. He is an esteemed educator, teaching at three medical schools in Singapore, and was accredited as an ECMO specialist in 2012 as part of his HMDP training in Michigan, USA.
Dr. Ibrahim’s research interests span several critical areas of neonatal medicine, including Meconium Obstruction of Prematurity (MOP), Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), Severe Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH), ECMO, and neonatal respiratory physiology, including animal studies on newborn breathing. His contributions to the field are widely recognized, with publications in leading journals such as Physiology and The New England Journal of Medicine.
A recipient of the NMRC National Award, Dr. Ibrahim is a dedicated clinician-scientist currently leading ground-breaking research, holding a $1.1 million research grant. He is also the Principal Investigator of the MOP Trial, a pioneering study in neonatal care.
