Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Symposium
Advancing Infectious Disease Practice Through Technology and Innovation
Date: 20 Sep 2025, Saturday | Time: 1115 - 1245 | Track Type: Symposium | Venue: L2-S1, Level 2, Academia
The rapid evolution of technology is revolutionizing the way infectious diseases are being monitored, detected and treated. This symposium will explore cutting-edge innovations spanning diagnostics and therapeutics to surveillance and disease registry collation. By integrating AI, electronic health data and advanced imaging, these new tools are reshaping how infectious disease practice is being carried out today.
The session will address the scope of technology and innovation driven work, from surveillance to therapeutics for infectious diseases. We will give an overview for available innovation and technological advances in infectious disease and prevention work in the literature and showcase 3 examples of current projects under the SingHealth umbrella.
Surveillance and healthcare associated infection risk prediction - 4D-DOSS (4D Disease Outbreak Surveillance System) that utilizes a digital twin to perform contact tracing, outbreak mapping and visualization to aid in interventions to mitigate disease spread. Here we can see how real-time disease surveillance can be utilized through various use cases including CT image andreport based AI assisted surveillance.
Diagnostics - Ring-enhancing brain lesions are challenging to diagnose and may require invasive brain biopsies. Following this we show how the development of a radiomic model can aid in differentiating infection from malignancy to complement current clinical diagnostic work.
Clinical decision support for therapeutics - We will also introduce the Augmented Intelligence in Infectious Diseases (AI2D) that is a solution developed and led by Division of Pharmacy to prescribe personalized antibiotic regimens for patients.
