Programme for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (PPPR) in the ASEAN Region

In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the Institute launched a Programme for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (PPPR) as a key strategic initiative. The objectives of the PPPR are:

  • Establish and support research, capacity building, education and policy related activities in the ASEAN region related to PPPR
  • Build and strengthen regional and international collaborations in this area

These efforts are guided by the underlying rationale to increase health security at the:

  • individual level - through better management of the environment-animal-human interface
  • societal level - through preventive and outbreak containment strategies
  • global level - through macro and international level policies as well as increased understanding of the One Health chain

Through its wide range of activities, SDGHI develops a robust partnership network of academic institutions in the region. We are committed to working with our partners to develop local talent, cultivate a strong research culture and ensure sound operational processes. Within Singapore, SDGHI is collaborating with institutions in the academic, non-profit, government and private sectors to expand its work within and beyond the medical sciences to broaden its impact on global health.
