Programme Details: 

This symposium brings together three perspectives on the ethical challenges of caring for older persons. The session features three talks: “Ethical Issues in Community Geriatric Medicine”; “Assistive Robots in Care of Older Persons”; and “No Money Can Die? An Institutional Ethnography of Resource Allocation Ethics in End-of-Life Care.” Together, the talks examine how clinical practice, technology, and policy shape the moral landscape of ageing and dying, with particular attention to dignity, equity, and the relational dimensions of care.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants will be able to identify key ethical issues across the continuum of geriatric care; critically reflect on how technology and institutional structures shape care for older persons; and discuss the navigation of ethical tensions in clinical and policy contexts.

Clinicians, allied health professionals, researchers, policymakers, humanities practitioners, bioethicists, caregivers, and students with an interest in ageing, palliative care, and healthcare ethics. No prerequisite knowledge required.
