Programme Description: 

This symposium brings together medical students, art students, and junior doctors to share their varied experiences in the arts and humanities and the intersection with healthcare. Audience will hear the stories from the speakers who include a medical student who founded a visual arts group, a postgraduate medical student who did her basic degree in Anthropology, a junior doctor who co-founded a student interest group in the medical humanities. The speakers will then convene for a panel discussion to share about their hopes and aspirations for the future of the medical humanities landscape both locally and regionally.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Describe how education in the arts and humanities may look like at the undergraduate level.
2. Identify the interests of healthcare students and junior healthcare professionals in the intersection between healthcare and the arts.
3. Share ideas and reflect on potential collaborations and synergy between the 2 sectors through the lens of the ground up initiatives and future aspirations.

Target Audience:

All are welcomed, particularly faculty and educators from both the arts and healthcare, healthcare trainees including nursing, medical, allied health students, arts and humanities students including students from local institutions like NAFA, Laselle, UAS, NTU, researchers especially those in the field of education and humanities research.
